With over eight million copies sold since, Half-Life is the best-selling PC first-person shooter to date. When it was released it changed the face of gaming with its amazing storyline and realistic gameplay.
The sequel was merely a rumor until it was finally revealed at E3 in May 2003, which ignited a firestorm of hype surrounding the game. It was one of the first games to use a physics engine along with the gravity gun what can possible beat that?

I haven't played the second one, but I am willing to vote for the first one based points for originality; obviously it beats the second one in that arena!

I guess i have to agree about halflife 2's ending it was pretty bad, and the first one was such a great game, everyone i knew back then was playing it :)

At the time of release it truly was awesome, Halflife 2 was also amazing but I do not think the story was as good and the ending kinda sucked

Half-life 2 wins hands down, just great game/great gfx and those who say bad ending, it wasnt an ending, EP1>2 and 3 carry it on.
