Fantasy has the advantage of allowing anything to happen without a real explanation. It also has some classically loved standards like Faeries, Unicorns, Wizards, Gnomes, even Trolls and Orcs! The best fantasy, of course, does follow rules in its use of Magic, but even those rules are up to the creator.
SciFi keeps being redefined as new technology comes along and turns SciFi into Reality. This has the advantage of making SciFi feel like it really could happen... Some day!. As with Fantasy, a SciFi creator can make pretty much anything happen, it just requires a little more explanation to work in SciFi. SciFi has some standards too - Warp Travel, Teleporting, Psionics, Super Humans, bio-implants, etc.

Oh come on - Spideyman and other MEN IN TIGHTS or Wizards - would you rather have webbing fly outta your hand to swing across a street or wave a wand and be transported there? Fantasy is way better.

I'd have to say sci-fi as it brings new ideas and way of thinking that may one day be reality, plus where would we be without sci-fi movies like the matrix and back to the future :)

It's a tough call, I like 'em both a lot! I do find that just based on the genre alone, I'll usually chose scifi, but fantasy I'm a lot more hesitant about - I think there has been a lot more really good, high-profile SciFi than there has Fantasy. Oh, and "FireFly" - Need I say more?
